Physical planning making highest and best use and synergy among the parts. |
The Destination Management Team is in fact the body or team
that has to Orchestrate the Integrated Master Planning of the
Destination. Of course it has a key role
in the concept and vision of the destination, but equally important it has a
long term role in the day to day operations of the destination. Much of this day to day operations will be
behind the scenes and out of sight of the general public, but having everything
run smoothly without notice will mean the Destination Management team is on top
of things doing their job.
One of the many aspects very important to operations such as
Environmental monitoring is usually over looked. Just imagine your house, your most valuable
asset with no care given to the daily management of it. This is a Beach Resort Destination with no
Environmental Management! For economies
of scale, joint marketing coordinated by a central body helps build overall
awareness and at a more efficient cost.
And of course throughout the life of any destination there will always
be challenges, changes and new things happening in the world and any
destination will need constant forward planning to keep up with the times in
order not to become obsolete. The
Destination Management Team is the face to the public and gives a direct line
of communication between the public and the Destination.
The destination management team is always newly built for a
destination. The building of the
Destination Management first starts with the political and business structure
of the development, only then can you define the role the destination
management team will be delegated.
Environmental management, essential to protect the assets and avoid financial disasters. |
Desitnation management requires a sound team and a sound methodology. |
We hope this series has been able to summarize the big
picture requirements and gives a bit of insight into the hidden 20% of requirements
of Beach Resort Destinations that are essential to make the Ideal Integrated Master Planned Beach
Resort Destination.

Dear Bertram JPDA
ReplyDeleteReally express my gratitude to yourself and valuable business planning, because they share such valuable knowledge with us, who joins us this wonderful network.
Travel planning is an extremely important issue and through his company have really made a great effort to translate the methodological issue for sustainable development tourism projects ... really this is very relevant.
The production of new projects, so the injection of new investment is crucial (and the most complex), I think the spirit of those who organized this network, among other achievements is that we build a bridge between communication and prone to interests to continue positioning itself to sustainable tourism.
Is to think as we move to achieve the level where we share our interests and we nurture among us think that building leadership in our areas of influence is decisive, sometimes our authorities and managers do not have the level and expressed BERTRAM this affects us in our plans or efforts that have to do and that goes from normal to extraordinary, resulting in the breakdown in our investment purposes.
Thanks again Bertram

DeleteThank you for your appreciation. In close to 30 year of development experience there are very few time where I have seen things fully integrated in all apcects, environment, financial, cultural, physical, design, etc. My goal over the years has been to take a collective view of development and make sure we can address all aspects. I am happy to share the knowledge and hope it leads to better expereinces for everyone.
By the way if you have not already seen, the link below is to an ecotour we developed awhile ago and it recieved a PATA Gold Award. There is a link to the video. Enjoy.

DeleteLighting is a very important aspect of resort development. Both at the macro destination level as well as the individual property level. Of course it goes well beyond being function but has an important role is supporting the overall destination aesthetic. In addition it must be done with economy both in terms of up front investment and long term running cost. That's a brief of my view.
Bertram,
ReplyDeleteThis blog is really fantastic. Reading it, like diving deep into the ocean and touring the wonderful scenery underneath the surface of the ocean that we usually take it for granted.
Thank you for sharing your fantastic experiences in resort master development.
Warmest regards from Indonesia
